The only complaint I could say was the poor shower,the low water pressure and standing in a slippery bath.The actual bathroom was lovely.

Certainly one of the best hotels in Edinburgh with a location second to none! Beautiful rooms, great food and a wonderful service by all of teh staff. We`ll certainly be staying again.Also, one of the cleanest hotels I`ve stayed in, and I`ve stayed in quite a few! See you soon!

Great hotel, good staff, lovely rooms, big beds, although I`d rather have a double than 2 singles pushed together. Great all round stay.

Room was a bit on the small side for the money we were paying - and lifts were incredibly slow. Also noisey during the night, but hey, this is Edinburgh! Staff very obliging and helpful. Overall, we had a very pleasant stay - thank you!

I would stay at the hotel for the accomodation, however, breakfast was abysml. Not enough tables & waiting staff, self service hot buffet was lukewarm, tea, coffee and toast took forever to arrive. To cap it all a fire alarm had us out on the street for 10 minutes. Staff were obviously trying to do their best, however, were outnumbered. I would reccommend that in futue the hotel have sufficient staff to cover peak times in the restaurant.

Excellent location lovely clean hotel we stayed in room 248 which seemed to be had a recent refit. Room was clean ,spacious, quiet ,top class, my wife thought the pillows were lumpy but I had no problem The breakfast was very nice a wide drange of choice to please all nationalities,in a lovely dining area definitely would book again

A perfect place to stay - very central to all attractions - spacious rooms and food in hotel top quality - staff are all very friendly and approachable.Everything you would need to have a perfect stay in Edinburgh.It`s also opposite Hard Rock Cafe another benefit.

The Restaurant service in the morning was poor, no spoons with tea cups, no glasses for fruit juice, food cold and had to queue to be seated.

I booked on line and got a good rate, my mother and I stayed one night. We were pleasantly surprised at the size and lovely furnishings in the room. The breakfast and service were also great. On our return to Edinburgh after a tour, we stayed somewhere else that cost more than the George Hotel and wasn`t as nice, I`ll know for next time!

Room really comfortable and had the best bed I have slept in, in a long time. Best night sleeps ever!

Very comfortable hotel with excellent facilities. Great Bars and Restaurant. Ideal position for all of central Edinburgh, including The Castle and Princes Street.

Lovely hotel in an ideal location. Staff very friendly and pleasant. Rooms and food excellent. Will hopefully stay again on our next visit to Edinburgh. (Just hope the sun shines on our next visit!)

We could not understand some of the negative comments made , ie small rooms, noisey, cold food, we were very pleased with all aspects, and it lived up to its 4* rating, better than some we have visited.

I really enjoyed my stay at The George. The room was really great, although the bathroom felt rather claustrophobic and there was no shower cap provided. However, the hairdryer was the best I`ve ever used in a hotel as it wasn`t one that you had to keep your finger on the button to keep it turned on. The staff were all very efficient and helpful. The breakfast was absolutely fantastic. The Tempus Bar did excellent cocktails and food and again the staff were extremely helpful and friendly which made my stay even more enjoyable. The Tempus was a great location to do some people watching! All in all, an excellent location for shopping, eating and drinking and only 5 minutes walk from the railway station. I would certainly stay at The George again.

Room small but otherwise good. Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfasts really poor - the cooked stuff must be all ready by the time you open I think and then just sit there getting luke warm and dried up - the continental pastries must have been baked in 2008

Bathroom sufficient for an overnight stay but when you`re six foot six the room and bathroom sizes come into play when looking at the whole purchased package. I will be staying again but will be looking to book a family room to compare against.

The rooms were very hot with no cooling or airflow facilities. Rooms very good standard though and kept very clean. Restaurant food very good as was service - experienced dirty glasses one evening but quickly changed. Would stay again.

Very, very clean room and bathroom. All service provided. Staff very polite and helpful. The down side was Breakfast. The buffet was of not a good standard ........a bit luke warm, fried eggs not a pretty picture swilling around in a pan of fat and the black pudding was `crispy` nearly all the way through.................suggestion at least have the `eggs` cooked served to order..........however the rest of the service just tipped the scales for `exellent`. ?. Do you get involved in the clubs `licence` granting/objections polls.
