Great value hotel in a good central Manchester location. The hotel has a lovely lobby and Tempus restaurant and bar which we enjoyed a drink at. Fantastic value since we are used to London prices, the purpose of our trip was our son`s graduation from Manchester University so we stayed overnight and chose the Palace. Feel we made the right choice for the proximity of the Uni which is also on Oxford Road. The only flaw was the hot water was not working so we couldn`t have a shower in the evening however it was in full working order by the morning. I recommend this hotel for business or short stays. Breakfast was also very delicious.

The staff, the location and the atmosphere at the Palace (Manchester) were fantastic, but the experience was let down by tired furniture, a thin and worn out mattress on the bed, and threadbare carpets patched with gaffa tape. I expected more from such a respected hotel. Personally I won`t be going back - there are far more comfortable places to stay, which cost significantly less.

Very interesting building, if a bit `shabby` round the edges - needs some investment to improve e.g. painting / windows / tiling. Room was grand but current decor made it a bit dingy - could be so beautiful.Housekeeping services need improvement - some details missed in cleaning (floor)Furnishings very dated - this lovely old room could have been furnished much better to give it elegance and comfort, but instead it was a bit dingy and dated. Ensuite had `stale` air - needs a bit of work to sort out. I got the impression I was in a room not often used, but I`m not sure)WIfi services poor - none in roomStaff very helpful and friendly. Lovely welcome. Breakfast was efficient.

Staff were friendly and helpful - we had a very enjoyable stay. Some attention needed on some aspects of the building - the wooden floor in our en-suite bathroom was rotting away, and one of the toilets downstairs (off the restaurant) had no lock on the door. We didn`t expect this in a 4-star hotel.

I arrived at 11 pm and was given a room I was tired after travelling and went straight to the room The room was damp Wall paper coming away from walls Visually damp walls Disgusting windows full of miss and green growth Bed was uncomfortable with holes on the mattressI complained in the morning and cancelled my second night and demandeda full refund I am still waiting to receive this Very unhappy Totally bad experience

Everything was pretty perfect and the only thing I think might have made it even better would be to have the lobby slightly better lit as we arrived on a rainy evening and the lighting in the lobby was very subdued to the point of being almost dark.

We found the hotel comfortable if in parts in need of updating. Room we had was next to a conference room and we could hear them speaking in the morning. Strange as the hotel seems very large but room allocation not close to our friends. Little info available in foyer . More a business hotel than tourist. We felt the hotel lacked people in charge! Breakfast food ran out and no one seemed too bothered but when we got breakfast it was very good. A rather surreal experience.

This was very good value for money and a beautiful hotel. In a fab location with a very nice, up market bar/restaurant and very good facilities. The staff were helpful and the hotel gives discount on parking in the Europark behind the hotel.

Absolutely fantastic! Checking in and out was super easy - both the hotel staff that we dealt with were VERY polite and friendly. The room was incredible - it was more than we were expecting! I would definitely recommend staying here.

I had a room at the very top of the hotel and found it very difficult to get to. I was moved with no problem to a fabulous first floor room.

The only thing that wasn`t spot on (we didn`t eat there so not sure about the food) was completely out of their control I suppose. Fire alarm went off at 6.20am leaving us stuck outside (myself without shoes, doh!) for a good half an hour.

old hotel but big rooms staff lovely will stay there again

The hotel was lovely and so was the room, but we didnt get much sleep there was a door banging through out the night in the hallway, the sound of trains and there was a boxed in waste pipe beside the bed which you could hear water going down it for most of the night.we went to relax and came home tired, a bit dissapointed as it was our anniversary.

great big room a little tired but clean and tidy,staff pleasant and helpfull, just a shame the deal did not include breakfast.Ideally locate for the theatre, which was a great bonus for us as we had booked in for a show.The staff that helped with our luggage were great fun, its a refreshing change to meet staff with great senses of humour, i feel we do it well in yorkshire

Very nice building - the rooms are huge

found the room quite chilly, and the noise of the railway woke me regularly through the night, but overall a pleasant stay.

Too much traffic noise and revellers shouting outside. The breakfast was OK but we had to struggle for space on the table as no-one was clearing them.

Stayed at the hotel as it was east for the theatre. Staff friendly, o=r first room smelt of cigarettes but was quickly changed by reception staff. Not there fault. Breakfast was of good quality. i would stay here again and recommend to friends.

Some areas in need of refurbishment- overall great stay & will return- great value for money!

on arrival I was put in room 158. this room is about 2 feet from a major train line. it`s practically on the line and even worse it coincides with the point at which trains start to break. the noise is deafening. no one can be expected to sleep with this going on. I had to go to reception to ask for another room. they just smiled and said "yeah, we know, we get it all the time". HOW ARROGANT a company you seem to be. you`ve had multiple complaints the room is not fit for purpose, yet you ignore customers anyway. it is a terrible attitude and one I would encourage you to address immediately. I am a business traveller and shall be submitting a honest review of my stay to a corporate travel website to ensure others know of your courant attitude to customers

Reception was efficient, polite an friendly and the rooms were really lovely and the bed super comfortable! My stay was marred only slightly by the poor quality of our evening meal the chips (all five of them!!) were overcooked, the bread was dry and 2 meals did not arrive and were poorly cooked - the chef had gone home and the waiter did the best he could to sort things out. I would, however, not hesitate to stay here again as it`s excellent value for money.

For anyone visiting Manchester I would thoroughly recommend the Palace Hotel. A very welcoming and friendly staff,as well as comfortable rooms, albeit without a mini bar, great dining, spacious lounges and impressive style and decor. I will certainly be staying there again.

Lovely building, very comfortable room, great service, brilliant city centre position yet no noise in room. Only thing I would suggest could be improved is when i was there, there was a stale quite unpleasant kind of smell - a bit like drains? - in the lobby. However, overall a fantastic hotel.

Excellent facilities and service. However very noisy outside between 3am and 5am.
