My room was smaller than I expected and needs refurbishing. The staff were very good.

Arrived at 25 minutes past 2 and our room was not ready, we were told it would be ready in 30 minutes but it was not, after more than an hour when we complained we were apparently given an upgrade, if this was an upgrade then the original room must have been tiny. We were told that your room is not guaranteed until 6pm, this is not stated on the website. Later on the evening we came back wanting a drink in the bar, there was water poring through the ceiling, not anyone`s fault, however we wanted a drink, cautiously we could get room service but not buy anything and take it to our room! We then ordered room service and the very polite member of staff did not understand that the term `discretionary charge` meant that we can choose to pay it or not, I suspect that a lot of customers just pay this charge without understanding what it means! All the staff in this hotel were very polite and helpful apart from the so called manager who did not seem to be able to make any decisions.
Wifi should be free for a modern business, tourist hotel. Over GBP9 for one day is a reason I would not stay again
Good location. Good value Dinner and Breakfast good. Staff very friendly. Only criticism was that on checking in two rooms allocated for friend and I had been changed when we later collected the keys and we had been placed on a different floor at different ends of the hotel. Managed to change again however and allocated another room opposite mine.
This is the second time I`ve stayed at Kensington Close a Hotel and would definitely stay again and recommend to anyone.
We found the hotel to be clean and comfortable and in a location ideal for visiting shops, museums etc., with good access to transport (underground rail services, buses). Breakfast was good with ample choice to suit all tastes. Staff were pleasant and helpful, especially so at check in on arrival. I would certainly recommend it to anyone contemplating an overnight or two in central London without it costing the earth!
Although I ticked the "GOOD" box, actually this hotel is VERY GOOD. Splendid service, efficient and friendly- all staff have a smile and a welcome word every day - concierge is very good with local knowledge ready to hand- very helpful . We stayed for 4 days, so had plenty of time to sample things. We were offered an up-grade to an Executive room, which, although small, ( 1st floor rooms are smaller than those on higher floors, )was comfortable and spotlessly clean - Molten Brown toiletries most acceptable. Breakfast was very good and the staff cope brilliantly with the large number of guests. Only one small criticism: In our opinion the food served in the evening is not as good as at breakfast. That said, we would not hesitate to stay here again.
TV in bedroom (211) partially obscured the mirror on the wall. Hot water was very hot in hand basin but only just adequate in bath!
Nice hotel, friendly and helpful staff. A bit disappointed of the room size and had to pay for the gym.
Got a great deal on this hotel through hotels direct. It is literally just round the corner a 2 minute walk from High Street Kensington subway and shops. Very small twin room (beds were together and no room to move them apart) but it was a super deal and it was lovely and very clean...suited me perfectly as i was on my own. Had lovely clean ensuite, tv , fridge , kettle etc . This is a large hotel but all the staff were very friendly and welcoming nothing was any trouble. Pool area very nice and clean as well. Didnt eat here so cant comment on food but breakfast was as good as buffet breakfasts are. No complaints. Would definitely return and recommend to friends.
Bar prices high even for London. The information that a "discretionary" service charge of 12.5% will be added is in very small print on the back of the menu and difficult to find. The bill was presented without any reference to the discretionary bit. We stayed on the 7th floor and I have had more powerful showers in remote 3 star hotels in SE Asia.
The hotel is very well maintained and very clean. I found the room very small and closed in. It did not match the appearance on the web site. The staff were excellent. Very polite and helpful. I would recommend this hotel.
Nothing negative to report. Most things are to a very good standard. I didn`t use the restaurant or breakfast room this time. Pillows were very `tired` and past their `sell by` date in my opinion.
Have stayed at this hotel over the last 7 years but for the money this time was very disappointed not a 4star hotel even though it has had a make over you have to pay for everything lifts not working a lot of money for room only have had better In central London with a lot more facilities
Beautiful impression on arrival but rooms were a little disappointing. Beds not terribly comfortable and bathroom odd shape. However very clean and serviced well. No guest information in room which was strange, no bottled water or biscuits. Felt that the service charge on everything was a bit high and there did not see any warning of this anywhere. Food was very good and the staff were excellent and would have preferred to tip personally not through service charge. Door personnel (David) in particular were wonderfull. Thank you we look forward to coming back in the future.
Brilliant stay, comfortable clean room, breakfast great, staff very friendly. Good value for money. Wouldn`t think twice about going back.
Fantastic stay with outstanding staff looking to go WOW customers, would definitely return and also recommend
Smal, but Nice rooms in an awsome hotel with good food. Recomandes.
Staff very helpful and courteous at all times. The public areas are beautiful and comfortable. The towels are always soft in the bathroom.
Very clean and tidy hotel with good facilities and would definitely recommend
Just what we needed. A very comfortable hotel close to good restaurants and the Royal Albert Hall.
Kensington Close Hotel is in a great location. Our room was a bit small but everything worked and we will visit again.
Fantastic breakfast. Very friendly staff. Only a short tube journey from the theatre and other places of interest. Good shops, coffee shops and Kensington park close to hotel. Most enjoyable stay. Would stay again.
One night stay. All staff polite, smiling and helpful. Clean and comfortable single room with tasty breakfast.
Very cold room very basic for a superior. Would not recommend.
Overall a good hotels in a great location. Staff are pleasant and helpful. The only negative is the charges for the leisure facilities. 8. 50 was too high per session. I think this should be charged per 24 hours as I would ha`ve used the facilities on my arrival in the evening and in the morning before I departed. Thanks
Excellent staff. Nice room (shame only a tiny window / no view) - great restaurant and common areas - pool looked good but did not realise it was £8 pp for a swim till we got to the pool desk - a shame as the first picture that comes up when booking is the pool so assumption is that it`s part of the price- but it is an extra charge
If you want a hotel which is in a good location for a London break then look no further. This is an excellent quality hotel with great food and accommodation
Despite having the building/facilities of a quality hotel, they let themselves down by still trying on the cheapskate hotel trick of trying to palm every guest off into their smallest rooms, regardless of what they`re paying for (superior / executive) and just apologising and moving them (an hour wait for another room to become free, in our case) IF you complain about it. We heard 3 other groups complaining of the same scam while we waited for our real room to be prepared... Pillows aren`t great, charging guests to use the gym facilities is poor (spa facilities is one thing, but the basic gym??). Service charge automatically added to every drink bill even if you go to the bar and get it yourself (what service?) General service was good though and despite the bathless bathrooms in executive rooms, room facilities were decent.
