A great location , very friendly staff and if you book the full English breakfast you will not be disappointed. Our room faced out onto the Strand opposite the Savoy Hotel. We kept getting up to look at the view . Would stay there again.
Staff was not so friendly, very crowdy in the hotel. A lot of noice during the whole night in hall en rooms on the floor. And we had a room at the streetside...during the night a lot of noice from there 2...woke up 2mornings at 4am!
Excellent central location, rooms very clean and comfortable, everything you need in a city hotel, can be rather long queues for breakfast when the hotel is very full. The carvery is good value and the Christmas decorations were lovely, the staff were helpful and we would definitely stay there again.
good location, great breakfast, and nice rooms.
Hotel was wonderful. Room was clean and breakfast was delicious. 5 mins walk to theatres and Trafalger Square. Just what we were looking for.
I have stayed at The Strand Palace many times now, always in a twin bedded room. I wouldn`t stay anywhere else now. The hotel is lovely clean and comfortable. The food is good and the staff are extremely helpful. It is ideally situated with bus stops over the road, and a short walking distance to Charing Cross Station. I would highly recommend this Hotel.
This hotel is reasonably good it`s in an excellent location, the rooms are small but clean and well equipped and the staff are helpful. However The Carvery restaurant breakfasts and evening meals food leave allot to be desired.
very good
a nightmare
Hotel is larger than I expected and fairly busy. Considering how busy the hotel is there was no long ques at reception or breakfast hall. I had a single room it was clean comfortable and fairly modern.. Wooden shutters on the windows which kept the room quiet and warm and no sunlight streaming in. Hotel also located in a great location, restaurants, shops, theatres all around.. Lots of taxis and buses and only a few minutes walk from train and underground stations.. Also really well located for covent garden which is just behind the hotel only 3 minute walk.. Trafalgar Square is also close by.. For the price a I would go back..
Disappointing to have to queue to check bags into left luggage on final morning and even more disappointing to have to queue yet again to get them out in the afternoon. For a hotel of this size and reputation there should be security in the lifts - ie the room key operates the lift to prevent non-residents from riding. A scruffy-looking man entered our lift on Saturday night and he did not look like a resident. Security should be paramount. Doorman was not helpful when we asked if he could locate a cab for us on Sunday afternoon even though he had been doing this for other residents during our stay. So we flagged down our own cab.
friendly and efficient staff, comfortable modern room
Considering the price for a king size executive room, the bathroom was very small and room layout wrong! This room was next to cleaners room so noise early in the morning. Disappointed.
Excellent location for access to most attractions
Superb hotel . Could nt fault it . Central . It met all of our needs. Will stay again.
Staff courteous andwelcoming. There was a double shower cubicle instead of a bath which I liked. I do think that the cleaning could be of a higher standard.
I would have liked chamomile tea in the room and another bar of soap but everything else was good. The breakfast was excellent and all staff were delightful. I would stay there again. js
I presume our room was an executive room by virtue of having a dressing area, otherwise it could only described as standard. The room was clean and the bed very comfortable. Staff at the hotel were welcoming and professional. Bar prices were on par with most London hotels, although I personally find £17 for one single and one double with a mixer a bit steep. Breakfast was good, no shortage of anything, albeit the beans were not really hot and there was only one toaster. Overall a very good stay, but not excellent
2 nights break. good central location. Efficient check in. Executive room comfortable, sufficient space for 3, we had a sofa bed for grandson. No bath, only shower Executive Breakfast filling for the day.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay with you again. Food and cleanliness excellent and staff courteous and helpful.
The Strand Palace is a modern clean hotel. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The layout is a bit of a maze and signs indicating where rooms are located not easy to spot and read. My only complaint is about the bed, which I found to be uncomfortable - and the pillows were foam filled and not to my liking. The room itself is described as a cosy double, ideal in my case as I was on my own.
Clean. Very comfortable beds. Friendly staff. Very busy. Didn`t eat in restaurants but cafe has very limited choice, better fast food outlets nearby.
excellent hotel very central within walking distance of theatre land
Good staff
super hotel, central location for threatres and restaurants. London eye, covent garden and tube just a few minutes walk away, all staff were friendly and helpful, good food and clean rooms, would definately stay here again
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms were small but comfortable and hotel is perfect for theatres and central London nightlife. We would recommend this hotel and will stay at this hotel when we are next in London.
Excellent room in a conveniently placed hotel with excellent staff at a sensible price....for London!
The main selling point is the very central location of the hotel. We have stayed there on a couple of occasions both this year (2014) and last year and always found the staff very helpful and efficient. I would have no hesitation in recommending this to friends and family.
The location of the hotel was ideal for eating out and the theatre. The staff were friendly, welcoming and efficient. My single room was clean and, whilst a little basic, had everything I expected. The view, or rather the lack of it, was the only real disappointment. I would happily stay there again.
The room was comfortable with clean deep bath. The concierges were mostly kind. Then in the shuttle mini cab to the airport, the driver asked me, "Are you alone?" I answered "Yes." He threatened me to give him 20 pounds because I ate sandwiches in the cab, as I had no time to eat lunch in the room of my hotel before departure. He said, "In the mini cab, no one is permitted to eat, so give me 20 pounds as a punishment." I said, " I never knew that there was such a rule while we can eat anything in a bus. Call a policeman, and I will ask him if such a rule exist." Then he repeated to pay extra 20 poundsto him threatening me. I did not pay him, but I was exptremely uncomfortable. Near Paddingoton, two Germans got on, and near Heathrow two more Germans got on, and the driver became silent. It must be a crime to threaten a foreign woman traveller. I left Strand Palace Hotel at about 13:00 to Heathrow on 8 Sept. 2014 and the name of the bus company was Evan Evans Tours: EE: 441554.
The walls of the rooms are like paper, you can hear conversations held in the next room, their phone ringing, their shower running and most of all their door slamming. I was calling reception at 1.30am for the second time to complain about the noise from the next room which had been noisy since 11.30pm. The room above me had a shower at 1.40am and the plumbing sounded like a rocket had gone off. Fire doors began to slam at 6am and this was supposed to be a "quiet room". I was asked at breakfast "coffee or tea?" and I replied "coffee please" - yes I was brought a pot of tea. Fruit salad tasted two days old and the cooked breakfast buffet was tepid and served on a cold plate. Don`t waste your time or money - book somewhere else. This is one of two visits to The Strand Palace and they were both blighted by noise.
This is a great hotel in a fabulously central location for shows and covent garden, would highly recommend it
