Quick and efficient reception on arrival. Upgraded to small suite on 7th floor without request. Very comfortable and modern room. Also very quiet. Bathroom needed a small amount of repair but overall an excellent suite.. Breakfast smooth and efficient service. Wide variety and well presented, tasty food.
We had a nice spacious room to the side of the hotel, no trafic noise that we could remember,as the bed was so comfortable.good shower, we did not eat at the hotel as breakfast is dear.It was only a short walk from the underground to the front of the hotel. The square out the front of the hotel has a nice cafe, and walks, The open top busses pass the front.Covent garden is 5-10 minutes away on a flat walk
Lovely hotel, friendly staff. Beautiful lobby. Standard rooms are good for a night, very clean. Comfotable bed and large bathroom.
we were disappointed that the breakfast rate increased dramatically unless you booked it the day before. we didnt know the day before if we would want breakfast on the sunday, we ended going out of the hotel to eat. No biscuits on the tea tray. Bathroom very small. Comfortable bed and very clean quiet room
Great hotel for London break. Ideal location (right next to tube station) - rooms were clean, very adequate facilities with helpful friendly staff and good value. I would definately return.
Friendly staff, impressive hotel and the room was very quiet. Would certainly consider using again.
We`ve stayed here before and keep going back. Great location and lovely hotel.
A freshly cooked breakfast would have been preferebal to the hot plates where the eggs tended to get a little hard. Toast could have been crisper.
My only criticism would be that the room was too hot in the night or too noisy with the air conditioner - otherwise could not fault the hotel, location or service.
Hotel staff - very helpful and attentive. Lovely surroundings and a thoroughly enjoyable stay.
Lovely hotel, friendly and efficient receptionist, great rooms and decor. Only negative points were that two of the bulbs were not working in the chandalier in the room and we were awaken abruptly by the maid knocking loudly on our door at 9:15am. We had not displayed a do not disturb notice on our door but as check out time was not until11am we did not expect to be woken up at this time of morning in such a startling fashion.
good location , ,friendly staff particularly Bernard the Concierge . Our bedroom No 151 was noisy from some sort of Extraction going on outside ,no view at all so quite expensive .But all very comfortable and clean.
Not a bad hotel for the centre of London, but less than I expected. I usually stay at budget hotels and staying at the Russell was a birthday treat for my girlfriend. The first thing I noticed was that there was nobody available to help us up the steps with heavy luggage. You would think that a hotel of this class would have a doorman. The room was adequate but hardly luxurious. The general decor of the hotel was pretty plain and the corridors reminded me of an old-fashioned hospital. We had to ask for more milk and sugar because you only provided enough for 2 cups of tea/coffee per day. I have stayed at motels in the USA that were more comfortable for a fraction of the price. In short, it didn`t justify the extra expense and I won`t be coming again.
Fantastic hotel experience. Staff could not be more helpful and the location is nigh on perfect.
Rooms and bathrooms very cleaneasily accessible by tube and easy to get back to Heathrow
Reception and concierge were very pleasant and etremely helpful.Had booked two rooms, asked if they were close together, so receptionist got me two that were and when i asked for a quiet room, she was able to ablige on this too.Staff at breakfast were also very pleasant and helpful.
A beautiful hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. Our room was amazing, with views over Russell Square. We will definitely be back before too long!
Thoroughly enjoyed our week-end stay at this immaculate ideally located hotel. All the staff were very charming and efficient and the room was immaculate. Will stay there again very soon and will recommend this delightful hotel to our friends.
Wonderful building, good position, but somewhat expensive
The Hotel Russel looks quite Grand from the outside . The reception area is very ornate with a lovely stair case. our room was a bit tired looking it needed a lick of paint and the carpet needed replaced . The bathroom was a bit grubby looking but the pressure from the tap was good. The bedroom was draughty but there was thick curtains to draw as the windows were only single glazed. The breakfast was ok but the staff were rushed of their feet ,there was not enough salt and pepper pots for the tables. The staff that we spoke to were very helpful, I wouldn`t rate this hotel as a four star.
I have stayed at the Russell on many occasions. My most recent stay was fine. The service is friendly and efficient - from booking in at the reception desk, to the excellent service at breakfast to the extremely helpful concierge service. My room was clean and well equipped. I thoroughly recommend the Russell and will be certain to use it again whenever staying in London.
Hotel was ideally situated close to the tube station. Accommodation was comfortable & the staff were very friendly. Would stay again & recommend it to others.
However, booking through this website we ended up with a terrible room - these are the rooms that the booking agency secures. Even the extremely helpful guy on reception suggested we upgrade; and of course this included a supplement! So we ended up paying the same price had we have booked direct. However, the room was a superiror twin overlooking Russell Square and it was beautiful. Breakfast was absoultely fantastic and we ate far too much but it was just so delicious! We tended to walk most places as it was central to everywhere; we were taking a trip to the theatre so it was great for that also. Perfect for a romantic getaway or a girly shopping weekend. Just make sure you get a good room before you arrive!
We went to the Russell Hotel for my 70th birthday party. We chose it because we had often passed it on the bus and thought what a splendidly luxurious building it looked and wanted to see what it was like inside. It lived up to expectations. Our bedroom was smallish but comfortable, the dinner was very good and the breakfast offered a large choice of both cooked and cold options. The only thing on the downside, which didn`t bother us but might others, was that there were no facilities such as gym, swimming pool, saunas etc. Also the bar, which doubled as a tea room, was on the small side so that you might have to wait for a seat. But if you want a short stay in relatively luxurious surroundings, just across the way from Russell Square, this is the place.
good hotel, good location. Rooms perfectly good for those seeking a base for business or pleasure. Unless you are a heavy sleeper ask for a room at the back or high up, the street noise doesnt stop all night.
we found the hotel outstanding. it is in a fantastic location, with amazing tube access. the rooms were very clean and spacious. the staff were all very polite and helpful. will defiantly return. 5 star
We enjoyed our stay at the Russell - its nicely appointed and the rooms were clean and comfortable though the slippy floor of the wet room ensuite had the potential for disaster which might have explained the number of safety devices and emergency cords with which it was equipped! One substantial criticism was the intrusive knocking of housekeeping staff at 8.30 & 9.15 am - we were only there for the night and checkout was quite clearly stated as 12.00. Our keys surrendered to reception would have signalled the opportunity for them to turn out the rooms. I would be having words with those gals if I was thir boss! Overall, though, very acceptable.
sorry but we will not use you again
