The room was just too warm, no matter what we did with the ventilation / air conditioning controls. Our view was pretty poor, as we backed onto another building. The hotel was advertised as 4 star but in reality it was 3*. That said the prices were 3* prices and so one cannot really complain too much. Would I stay there again....... probably not, unless there were some guarantees that the room air-conditioning was working effectively. The hotel is based perfectly for a long weekend break as you can easily walk to many of the touristy places from your base on O`Connel Street.
This was our second visit to the Gresham and wont be our last. The location is wonderful and if you go you must set side an hour to grab a sofa in the window of the lounge to watch the world go by. The staff were all friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are comfortable and of a good size. Perfect for a weekend break.
Comfortable rooms and public areasFriendly, helpful staffProblems dealt with expeditiouslyFood tends to be rather expensive - but that is not peculiar to the hotel, more to Dublin in general
The Gresham proved to be exactly as expected - an old hotel with traditional rooms and a beautiful large lobby area. We did not have chance to spend much time there but were perfectly satisfied with all that it had to offer. Its main advantage is its central position with its own carpark. We would certainly recommend it
great location, very friendly staff and i will be staying here again... *****
The Gresham is a well managed hotel, food is very good, staff make you feel very welcome. It is centrally located within close range to cinemas, theatres, shops and taxis. The rooms are equipped with everything one might need and are also kept beautifully clean. I would definitely recommend it to anyone going to Dublin and I intend to stay there on my many future trips to Dublin.
Astheticly a great hotel. Great location, helpful friendly staff. Rooms great quality. Luggage storage of great help. A tad expensive but you get what you pay for. Would recomend this hotel.
I thought the service was good, the service was quick, I was disappointed that the sink in room 415 didn`t drain at all, this tells me that the rooms aren`t being serviced and the cleaning must be poor otherwise the cleaner wood have reported the sink and maintenance would have fixed it. If you`ll give this some thought this there is a staff training need and an easy way to sort out some better service. A book called raving fans, when a raving fan is pleased everyone knows, otherwise they could become an assasin and everyone will know that too.
Quite a few problems. Rooms were very hot and couldn`t turn heat down. 2nd night 3 of our group couln`t use keys and had to go back down to reception after midnight. Had breakfast in bar and couldn`t pay. After waiting half an hour for the barman to return I had to go and ask at reception to pay as we were all waiting to go out. Cleaner doing the room next door made unnecessary amount of noise at 8am, banging vacuum into skirting boards and banging doors. Sorry to say we will not be staying here again.
The facilities were excellent, the rooms and public areas attractive and in immaculate condition.. The staff were friendly and helpful.
Room was well furnashed and clean. The wireless internet to the floor was never working, router problems. Had second floor front room on to O`Connel street ,and very noisy as double glazing very poor thin profile, which reminded me of a holiday caravan type. Heavy traffic and noisy all night. Also don`t take room 200 as the lift is next to the room and very noisy.
hi there my only gripe was the itnet functionality which you have to use with remote control and keyboard so its very finicky and time consuming to use. - maybe supply a mouse to navigate better. Also the windows in my room could have been better - maybe double glazed to keep out noise - great view of O connell street though!!!!!! overall very pleased
I required immediate access to my room to change clothes before proceeding to a very important engagement. I was told by a female receptionist I could `use the toilets`! The concierge eventually offered me a storeroom (which was in dusty condition) and I was obliged to do so. I have stayed often in The Gresham in the past and found all to my satisfaction, but unfortunately the standard of courtesy, presentation and efficiency has deteriorated dramatically. Fittings in the bathroom were broken or missing, and the overall presentation of the Bedroom was below standard for a 4 star hotel. It will need to improve a lot before I stay again.
Nice hotel, good tariff, handy location, friendly staff, although building a little dated in areas
I stayed inApril 2010 for 3 nights over a long weekend. The aircoach from the airport stopped right outside the hotel, at the bus stop in O`connell st which was very convenient. reception staff pleasant. Was given a family room with an extra single bed, giving us extra room. Room was warm and also had aircon unit. View was poor, overlooking vents but this did not really bother me. Bathroom nice, but had trouble getting cold water, it was all hot. Bar was nice and affordable. Did not eat at hotel as it appeared a bit pricey ie 30 euros for breakfast. There are loads of great places to eat nearby and at Temple. All together a great stay.
the service from staff in the gresham was excellent, we arrived at the hotel at 11am and check-in was at 2pm. when I asked if they had anywhere they could store our bags until then the receptioist told us that our rooms were ready and we could check-in immediatly. Room service breakfast was thoroughly enjoyable.
Hotel looking well after refurbishment.Staff friendly and helpful.Room well sized and comfortable.Modern bathroom.Good breakfast.Traffic noise in rooms at front but expected on such a busy street.
I usually stay at the Morgan Hotel and unfortunately couldn`t get in there this time. I thought that the Gresham would be a good substitute. How wrong I was. The hotel staff were incompitent and rude. There was a problem with the queing system on check in, (it was like a free for all). When we tried to get room service and there was no menu in the room, so we called reception and was eventually put through to room service. She told us that we had to look on the TV, when we asked how to do it she said that she didn`t know.We also thried to get a reservation for a restaurant on Saturday evening and was told that we probably wouldn`t get one as it was already 7.30pm. How about you try!!!Not impressed and though the whole experience was shocking for the money paid.
I think we were given the worst room in the hotel. The shower did not work, so we just used the bath. There was hot water coming from the cold tap (brushing your teeth in hot water is not very pleasant). The air conditioning did not work so the room was like a sauna. The carpet was filthy, really stained and grubby. Location wise the Gresham is fantantic but roomwise the hotel is a real let down!!!! Would not stay there again.
as i said in the headline, the keys also didnt work correctly, and had to find guy at reception to give me a new key when i came back from my night out.angry with this, but good hotel with very good location.
nice place ,price fine
Rooms are quite small but they are up to date and very clean. It has a nice bar and is a perfect location .
Standard room was far from what we got. Basic was the only way to describe it. Our room faced a brick wall. Decor was not homely and you wouldn`t have wanted to spend any amount of time in the room unless it was to sleep.Found a lot of the staff unapproachable. In our experience it was far from "the contomer is always right"
Excellent accomodation, very well situated for all amenities in the centre of Dublin.
Rooms cold and could do with updating. Can`t comment about the food as we went out it was so expensive. Drinks also expensive (as is the rest of Dublin!!) but staff were friendly and approachable.
A great hotel, clean and tidy with great facilities. The staff are very pleasant and helpful. We had a wonderful weekend.. I would highly recommend this hotel.
